Tooth Extractions

Protecting Your Dental Health Using Advanced Technology

In the unfortunate circumstance where a tooth has been exposed to significant damage, such as through tooth decay or a break, conservative treatments such as a simple filling may not be enough to restore your dental health. Tooth extraction may also be necessary when a tooth has become irreparably loose or is placing stress on adjacent teeth. If you are concerned about your dental health, have a pain in your mouth or want to know more about our tooth extraction process, give us a call to schedule your appointment.

Is Tooth Extraction Right For Me?

Although tooth extraction is safe, it is not recommended for certain patients who may benefit from alternative treatment options. It is important to schedule a consultation to review your medical history and current health. Because of the nature of the tooth extraction process it will require varying forms of anesthesia, Speak with us to discuss your unique treatment options.

What to Expect From Tooth Extraction

Only dentists highly trained in oral surgery can perform tooth extractions. At your appointment Dr. Latourelle will numb the tooth to prepare it for extraction. Once the patient is relaxed, the tooth is removed using forceps to grasp the tooth and gently rock it back and forth to loosen it from the jawbone. After removal the gums are sealed with a few medical stitches.

After Tooth Loss or Tooth Removal

After tooth loss recovery relatively simple by introducing soft foods and keeping the mouth clean with gentle brushing as the stitches heal or dissolve. In many cases patients will be recommended to replace one or more missing teeth with a dental crown, partial denture or implant-supported denture. This will ensure that the form of your bite remains supported for a better overall dental health.
